Ice Platinums: Far Cry 4

There are 50 trophies in total in Far Cry 4, including the platinum. Some are definitely much easier than others, some are frustrating, but generally it’s not a hard game to platinum as long as you don’t mind a little bit of a grind.

Master Of Kyrat – Platinum

Gather up all the other trophies from the game. You do not have to 100% the game to get this trophy, and it’s still achievable after you’ve finished the main story.

Welcome To Kyrat

Join the Golden Path

This is a story based mission, just do what the game tells you and you’re sorted (if you wait for Pagan while he’s torturing someone during your dinner you will have to start a new game to get the story based trophies).

One Down

Decide De Pleur’s Fate

Again this is story based. There isn’t much hard work to put in for this trophy.

Overdose

Discover Shangri-La

You are lead straight into this one, and personally the Shangri-La parts were one of my favourites of the story. Good gameplay, stunning graphics, and amazing audio.

Two Down

Decide Noore’s fate

Regardless of what decision you make, you will receive this trophy. It’s also story based.

Hat-Trick

Decide Yuma’s fate

Story mission, albeit one of the more unusual, but fun ones.

The King Is Dead

Decide Pagan Min’s fate

This is that slightly disappointing end (check my Review for more). However you play the game, as long as you play it through until the end, you will get this trophy.

Deliver Us From Evil

Liberate 12 Outposts

The easiest way to do this is either with a friend, via co-op, or just liberating outposts as you pass them on the map. Liberating outposts definitely makes the games easier, as it reduces the number of enemies around. The map tells you how hard they are, and how many alarms they have.

If you want to have some fun, take a grenade launcher, molotovs, RPG or shotgun and go in all guns blazing.

If you want to make to play a stealthy game (my preference), shoot out the alarms from a distance with a sniper, and just sneak through. This way it doesn’t really matter if you’re seen and you’ll also get the Tread Lightly trophy.

All Clear

Liberate all Outposts

This one is a bit more of a grind, but still not all that hard. To make it easier, take out all the alarms before attacking the outpost, as it means you don’t have to worry with the reinforcements slowing you down.

If you’ve completed the story, get the most powerful weapon you own, and it won’t take you too long either. This is easier with a friend, because one of you can get on the mortar (if available) and wipe out everyone in one go, while the other covers you. Watch out for helicopters though.

Tread Lightly

Liberate any Outpost without triggering an alarm in any mode

If stealth isn’t your thing, and you haven’t got this trophy through your normal wanderings and taking outposts, then go back to the first outpost you take and use the replay option.

Take out the alarm and then the guards. For a challenge you can leave the alarm in play and sneak around.

End Transmission

Liberate 8 Bell Towers

If you are feeling lazy, find a buzzer and fly to the top of the bell towers, land, hijack, and fly to the next one. I did this, just by doing sections of the map. It’s also good to rack up some distance in the wingsuit by jumping off the top. And taking down propaganda posters on the way up.

Display Of Fortitude

Conquer 2 Fortresses

The first time you accidentally stumble into a fortress, the thought of actually conquering it seems impossible. If you decide the fate of the first two key antagonists, this will make the fortresses easier. Co-op can also help. It is possible to do these own your own, before you do those parts of the story if you wish.

Well-Rounded

Complete any 6 Hunting quests (Supplies, Control, Survival)

These only appear when you start taking outposts, or liberating bell towers. You can pick and choose which ones you want to do, if you prefer Survival say, then you can focus on those. If you want the trophy quickly, then you complete them as soon as they show up at the outposts.

Trigger-Man

Complete 3 Assassination or Eye for an Eye quests

These quests are quite similar to each other, and someone normally appears in your room at outposts, or on a table outside. I didn’t like these missions, but you only have to do a combination of 3.

No One Left Behind

Rescue 15 hostages in Hostage Rescue quests

These people also appear in your bedroom. These quests are very heavy on stealth side, and if you can save all hostages in each mission (max of 4, min of 2) then it goes a lot quicker.

Gearhead

Complete 3 Kyrati Films: Racing or Kyrati Films: Survival activities

I didn’t get on with the original driving controls in this game so I changed them and I could suddenly drive! You don’t have to get gold on these missions, you just need to pass, but the first few are quite easy, and a few play throughs will show you when you need to break.

Defender

Repel 3 Outpost Retaliation Parties

This is what happens when you take an outpost and there are still the fortresses around. So, a mistake I made, I ignored the retaliation parties and took the two fortresses in the south. It was great from the perspective of less enemies (go me!), but I then didn’t get any more retaliation parties until I unlocked the north. Once you’ve pushed three away (you don’t have to kill them all, they fall back, but you can kill them all if you wish), you’ll get the trophy.

Robin Hood

Hijack 3 Royal Cargo Trucks and return them to a liberated Outpost

I made a slight boo-boo with this trophy at first. In my efficiency to clear the map, I liberated all outposts, which meant there was nowhere for the Cargo trucks to come from. I learnt that lesson for the North. I found the easiest way to take the trucks was to use the vehicle take down on them. You cannot destroy the trucks for this trophy, you need the vehicle in working or repairable order enough to get them back to the outpost.

Hand Of Justice

Eliminate 3 Pagan’s Wrath convoys

These are a pain because the cars are armoured, there are 3 of them, and they don’t stop for anything. You can tell by the map which way they are going, and laying down as much C4 as you could hold was great and wiping them all out in one. Otherwise the old trusty grenade launcher was favoured. The RPG also works, but the cars had often moved by the time it got there. If you’re close to an outpost, you can use a mortar. Shooting them from a buzzer also works quite well.

Brother In Arms

Liberate 1 Outpost playing as Hurk

Hurk is the co-op player. PS4 users need PS Plus for this. If you join a friend, you are Hurk, if your friend joins you, they play as Hurk. As long as you take down the outpost, they don’t particularly care how for this trophy. You can be loud, silent, you can do nothing while they do everything, or you can go back and replay the earliest one.

Defuser

Complete 3 Bomb Defusal quests

These didn’t unlock for quite a while. They are very similar to the monastery mission (if you pick Sabal’s). You have to defuse the bombs, if you are spotted, you then get a countdown in which to complete it.

Changing Lanes

Perform a Vehicle Takedown from the passenger seat of a vehicle

This has to be done with a friend. PS4 users will need PS Plus. Your friend needs to drive, and get you alongside a vehicle. You are best to do this with the Cargo missions or on the Pagan’s Wrath cars, because they don’t stop for anything. When going alongside a normal enemy car they stop and get out as soon as they see you.

Fixer-Upper

Purchase 3 items for the Ghale Homestead

Spend all your money basically. It doesn’t matter what you buy for the house, if they are cheap or expensive, it just wants you to spend money on doing up your house. They guy you need to go to sits out on your porch. My personal favourites were the Garden,, the money tree, and the molotovs.

Exorcist

Remove or destroy 15 Masks of Yalung

I quite enjoyed searching for these, although some of them are really awkward to find. If you are struggling, back out of the area and set it as a waypoint, or look for the dead bodies. You don’t have to collect the masks, you can destroy them with weapons if you prefer. Only the masks in the campaign count for this. The Battles of Kyrat masks don’t count.

Rewriting History

Remove 30 Propaganda Posters

There are always some posters around outposts and bell towers. As you go into the North they are a lot more of them. For those posters out of reach use a Molotov, flame/explosive arrow, grenade, or RPG.

Caretaker Of Memory

Find 10 Lost Letters

You can go around and search for these, they come up on your map when you unlock certain places, but I just went to the trading post and bought the map secrets, it helped with Make It Rain and helped me with the propaganda posters, mani wheels, mask, etc.

Right Tributes

Spin 10 Mani Wheels

The same as above. These are always by shrines, and generally have a few boxes to loot around them.

The Rarest Game

Complete 3 Kyrat Fashion Week quests

These are fun. I loved these side quests. The fashion week quests involved going round and hunting incredibly rare animals. They unlock about half way through the map of the South and you use them to complete the final upgrade on your craftables.

Well Read

Read 10 notes

These are everywhere, it’s actually impossible to ignore them. Just go up to them and press read and then dismiss.

Quick Learner

Learn 10 skills

This is where you spend those hard earned skill points. You get skill points for all missions, side missions, kills, etc. There is no specific order in which you have to spend them, all elephant, all tiger, a combination, you just need to unlock and spend ten points (some skills require you to do certain missions to unlock them).

Fully Loaded

Learn all skills

This one takes a little bit of time, just because you need to collect enough skill points, and do enough missions to unlock everything and then buy. If you’ve got everything unlocked, play with a buddy. You both get skill points for everything the other does.

Tricked Out

Craft 5 upgrades for your equipment

If you hunt every animal you see, you’ll grab this one pretty quickly, especially if you clean kill for double karma, and double loot. The only problem is sometimes you get stuck looking for a particular animal to progress a certain upgrade, and you can never find them. I had this problem with snow leopards. The trophy though is for any 5 upgrades, so if you max a one craftable, then they will count as separate upgrades.

Dr. Feelgood

Craft 15 syringes

Unfortunately, this doesn’t count the auto craft healing syringes. I unlocked the hunting syringe first, and used all the herbs I had collected maxing it out. Each time I used one I would be ready to re-craft. It can be a combination of syringes if you have them all unlocked.

Make It Rain

Spend 500,000 rupees total at Trading Posts

Money makes the world turn, and the same is true in Kyrat. It wasn’t hard to spend money. Auto-restocking ammo, or buying a few signature weapons, quickly ticks you over. The easiest way to make money is karma events, looting, or quick selling your items. You can sell animal hides for a lot of money, so always hunt and skin, and you will quick sell any you don’t need.

Custom-Fitted

Buy all attachments and paint schemes for a single weapon

The paint jobs for the weapon is what makes this expensive. If you have a good memory, then pick a weapon and just keep upgrading it every time you bump into a shop. Personally, I would forget which weapon I was upgrading, so I saved up and did it all in one go. There is no exclusion for this (apart from signature weapons). I did my bow as I knew I would use it, so the attachments would be worth it. If you have money to burn, then you can do it for any weapon.

Tusker

Kill 30 enemies with an elephant

You will need the elephant riding skill for this. It isn’t hard to get, actually I think it’s unlocked almost immediately. This trophy is incredibly fun to get. Who doesn’t like riding around on an elephant?

On one of the Shangri-La missions, you can actually ride an elephant, and it was there I actually managed to get this trophy.

Quad Kill

Kill 4 enemies simultaneously with a single explosion

Grenade. Vehicle. Need I say more?

38.Misdirection

Distract 15 enemies with rocks

This was a pain. It was probably my last trophy. You do not have to kill these enemies. But it doesn’t count if you keep distracting the same enemies. For this trophy you have to throw a rock, wait for the enemy to move and then they will say something prompting them to go back to their original place. That is a complete distraction. If you kill them too soon it doesn’t count. It’s a pain.

Shutterbug

Tag 25 enemies using the camera

If you get out your camera as much as possible in the early part of the game this should be quite quick. Outposts are your perfect opportunity. If you use the hunting syringe and then get your camera out they don’t count, and it also doesn’t count if you are playing co-op and your friend tags enemies.

Reign Of Death

Kill 30 enemies with Mortar rounds

Outpost retaliation parties are great for this if the outpost has a mortar, or if you find an outpost/fortress with a  mortar just running in and getting on it until you’re killed. Especially if you’re on a hard one and you set off an alarm.

From A Distance

Kill a target from 60m or more with an arrow or bolt

You can shoot, and blindly hope on this one until the trophy flashes up, or you can tag an enemy with your camera, and back up until the waypoint is more than 60m away. The arrows are quite deadly, so as long as you hit your target and you’re far enough away, you should be golden.

Two Birds

Using a sniper rifle, kill 2 targets with a single shot

When you’re taking an outpost, or fortress, is probably the easiest time to do this mission. I liked the sniper, so I used it a lot. The missions where it gives you a sniper normally has this opportunity too.

The Sky Is Falling

Perform a takedown from a Buzzer

Now the only way I know how to do this is to do a vehicle take down from a buzzer. Get in your buzzer and fly low, near a vehicle, wait for the prompt to appear and voila. I tried many time to just drop onto any enemy from one, but they move. (You need to unlock the vehicle takedown from the skills menu).

Flame On!

Kill 50 enemies with fire

One word. Molotovs. This is the quickest way to get this trophy. Just keep lighting enemies up. You can also use the flamethrower, or fire arrows, but you need to make sure that the enemy dies from the fire and not other wounds, like guns (when the Golden Path are so helpful that you just want them to go away!).

Drive-By

Kill 25 enemies while shooting and driving

I found this quickest with the sidearm grenade launcher as it’s easier to kill, and kill in numbers. Any gun would do though. The dune buggy or quad bike is also good for this as you’ve good a really good aim without having to worry about breaking windows first.

The Good Fight

Reach Karma Level 2, and purchase any Guns For Hire upgrade

If you do nice things for people… Karma events are great for money and karma. Killing animals with arrows or bolts also give you karma points. You do lose karma points for silly things like shooting at Golden Path members, so make sure, at least until you get to level 2, you’re playing nicely. Go to any shop/trading post and purchase any Guns for Hire upgrade.

Like A Bird

Fly 5000m total in the Wingsuit

You can farm this trophy, if you choose to. If you go the Ghale Homestead, you can go over to the glider and jump. Glide for as long as possible and then just fast travel back to the house and repeat. That is boring though, and takes away the fun of the wing suit (if you don’t keep dying from it failing!) If you use it every bell tower you liberate, or every time you’re up high. You can even fly up in a buzzer, waiting until it throws a fit and wingsuit.

Roadkill

Run over 25 people

This applies to anyone, not just enemies, and you don’t even have to kill the person, just knock them down with your vehicle. This can’t be done with the elephant though, only cars.

The People’s Champ

Reach Arena Rank 5

This is a bit of a grind, unfortunately. You unlock the Arena after the Noore missions. Depending on your style of play there are different ways to get the most points to make this happen as quickly as possible. It’s best to try each game mode and see how many points you get and whichever you do best at, grind at that.

Renaissance Man

Finish a public match of each game type in the Battles of Kyrat game mode

From the Main menu select Battles of Kyrat. This does require PS Plus for PS4 users. You must play one of each type of game through to the end. This means you must play the first round, the second round, and the tiebreak round (if required). You must do this for each game type, Propaganda, Outpost, Masks, but you do not need to win. Even if you lose all your games you will still get the trophy.

Community Surprise

Play a Top Rated map in the Map Browser

This requires an internet connection but not PlayStation Plus for PS4 users. From the main menu, go on the Map Browser, and just select anything under Top Rated. It doesn’t matter which map you play as long as it is Top Rated. You must complete the map to get the trophy.

For the next few Fridays I shall be doing some film reviews before coming back with an PS4 review on The Order: 1886.
